Revealing Secrets
Chapter One
Entry 1
My name is Hope Narion and I am citizen of Lunamora, Setaria, and also the Second Rank Leader of the Royal Setarian Life Academy. Here the Leaders are what you would call student counsel, and I am the second in charge, next to my best friend Sara Grace. The First Rank position should be mine however because I don't have a sports credit I couldn't take it so Sara got it. No I am not egotistic or jealous, even with Sara in charge I am the one who makes most the decisions. Honestly it is tiresome doing all the work and not getting credit, but then again I never was one for attention, even though for my whole life I got it. However that is a story for another time. I should probably tell you a little about where I come from. Wow that sounded more like I was some sort of intergalactic being. Sorry but I do not have feelers or scaly green skin, thank goodness for that. No I am human just like you, but I come from a time after you. See sometime in the past there was a planet known as Earth, which is where you reside. Well a god known as the Almighty Creator called forth something named the Rapture which marked the end the world. Honestly I don't know all that much, besides that many people suffered and tortured by beings known as demons. I am not sure if demons reside in our realm, I know we have other celestial beings like phoenixes and dragons – among other beings - so it may be possible. After a time of suffering the Almighty Creator decided to take everyone back home, but before disappearing forever he decided to destroy Shamayim. After what was an eternity the Elemental Guardians – the gods of our time – escaped their prison and recreated the realm in their mind. They even recreated the humans, but they decided to give us a special gift, Soulflames. Soulflames are the power that our souls hold and we are able to conjure that element in a physical state. Just like the Guardians there are sixteen elements. The Nicitro elements are: Earth, Lightning, Ice, Dark, and of course Death. Then there are the Zialou elements: Space, Time, Moon, Sun, and Eternity. Last but certainly not the least you have the Setarian elements: Fire, Water, Wind Destiny, Light, and my Soulflame element, Life. That means I can help health people even when they are on the brink of death. Sadly over the centuries since Earthanash was born the gift was lost for the most part, only people known as "Purebloods" hold the power of Soulflames. For your information yes I am a Pureblood Soulflame user. Mind you when someone has the ability to use Soulflames it isn't all fun and games, there is a lot of responsibility that comes with the burden. There is a reason why the ability has mostly been lost but that would need another three pages to even remotely explain it.

I closed my notebook with a satisfied slam. One journal entry down, only 249 left to go. Man, did I really know how to spoil a good moment. I threw the book at my bag and decided to lean back against the tree and stare out into the distance. After a long week of preparing for a new school year I thought it would be a good idea to take a breather. I found shelter under a tall oak tree on a cliff overlooking the beach. I watched as the waves rolled onto the white sand that seemed to glisten when the sun peered from behind the clouds. The forest at the edge of the beach swayed with the wind, white petals flew up meeting up with the low floating clouds. They looked like squished up marshmallows. Just beyond the trees the Academy and its surrounding facilities peeked above the canopy of leaves. Closing my eyes I took in the sweet smell of the salt from the ocean and distant flower fields. I listened in on the waves crashing against the cliff walls behind me, and the little blue birds singing above me, and if I listened carefully enough I could also hear cheering from my fellow Leaders and classmates.
"I wonder what they are all up to. What do you think Daymian?" I placed my hand down at my side, my heart nearly breaking in two. It may have already been a week since I returned back to school but without having him at my side was still so unnatural after spending everyday for two months with him. Daymian was my flat coat retriever, and also one of my closest friends. I could only imagine the thirteen year old dog lying in front of my door sulking, waiting for me to return. Dad had told me that the last time I had left for school he had to take Daymian to the hospital because he became so dehydrated and how the vet gave him shit for neglecting him. Daymian was given to me and my sisters from our nanny. She had picked him out since she had heard that retrievers were family dogs and she just loved how beautiful his coat was, though she wasn't expecting his personality to be that of a shepherd. He instantly bonded with me and seemed to hate the rest of them, but after a while he began to tolerate the rest of them. Even allowing the twins to pull at his hair and dump mud all over him. He was a best dog anyone could have. I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard a bunch of screaming girls. Sighing, I packed up my notebook and headed down the hill to find out what was all the commotion.
The first thing I saw coming out of the forest was the main building. The four story building was well over five hundred years old though it showed no signs of age, despite the design. The entrance had an overhead, held up by two columns covered think with ivy. The great redwood doors stood out next to the grey stonework of the exterior. Above the doors was a stained glass window of a man clothed in a soldier's uniform holding a sword into the sky as a woman, with wings of an angel, floated behind him, placing her hands over his. Even if by accident her eyes seemed soft and her lips smiled from love.
I heard someone scream, like they were in trouble. Without hesitating I unclipped my gun and rushed around the building, my heart quickened. Turning around the corner I smacked right into someone. I started to fall backwards, only to have a large hand grab my wrist, stopping my fall. I opened my eyes to see my long time friend, Nick, the Third Rank Leader. He was a tall husky guy, nearly a foot taller than she was. He had wavy dirty blonde hair and intense violet eyes. He wore a pair of dark jeans and a plain white t-shirt, which stretched around his biceps and defined his rock-hard abs. Swiftly he pulled me up to my feet.
"Where are you off to in such a hurry?" He asked me, puzzled.
"Did you not hear the screaming?" I forced. The impact of hitting his back left me short of breath. Nick looked at me and then down to my hand tightening around the gun. Suddenly a smug smile escaped from behind his lips and then a laugh. Anger was starting to build. How could he take someone screaming as a joke?
"Come with me." He grabbed my hand holding the gun and led me behind the building. Near the Auditorium building everyone was gathered watching as two guys squared off, sabers drawn. The tall red head was one of the newest Leaders, Luke. He was shirtless, surprisingly, wearing his ripped denim shorts, his hair put back in a blue bandana. His muscles tensed under the stress, and his bright yellow eyes narrowed at his opponent. Kevin was shorter and scrawny compared to Luke but he was defiantly holding his own. He had blonde hair and was darker skinned than most of the guys.  Both of them were panting. I stood watching, Nick still holding my wrist, as Luke suddenly jumped at Kevin. The blonde seemed at have been expecting the action, for when Luke was lifting his blade Kevin brought his sword down, hitting Luke's with full force. The blade hit the ground and Luke began to lose his footing. In a single motion Kevin swung his sword and cut the twinge around his neck. The stone tied by the twine fell to the ground. In a second another guy, who I recognized as Mitchell, blew a whistle and declared Kevin as the winner. The duelists shook each other's hand in good sportsmanship as the crowd clapped. As everyone clapped a blonde girl turned and noticed me standing a few feet away from her. Sara, the First Rank Leader, ran over to us, her golden locks flew behind her and her white dress danced.
"There you are Hope. What's wrong?"  She asked, referring to my gun. Sara was one of my other best friends. I had known her since I was a few months old, she being barely a year. She was like my older sister, we were that close and she was that protective.
"She heard a scream. Thinking someone was in trouble she ran full speed, straight into my back." I could feel my cheeks redden as Sara started to giggle. Well at least someone was getting a laugh out of my stupidity.
"Hey Nick turn around, let's see if there is a Hope imprint on your back." Sara joked.
"Sure," Nick turned around and started to lift the back of his shirt. I elbowed him in the side and went to smack away Sara's hand. The two started to laugh at me, I loved them, but sometimes they knew just how to get under my skin. Nick grabbed my waist, pulling me into his. He kissed my forehead. This was his way of making sure he knew he was just playing with me, though for some reason I wasn't satisfied.
"Who's next?" Mitchell yelled to the crowd, waving around the necklaces that Luke and Kevin were just wearing. I looked at Nick who was still laughing with Sara, and then back to the rack of swords behind Mitchell. Part of me wanted to try it out, I was thinking about trying out for the Warrior team this year, and maybe if I could hold my own against  one of the guys maybe I would stand a chance. Before I could say a word Nick placed his hand on my shoulder.
"I challenge Hope."
So after 8 years of trying and 100 different ways to open I think I have figured out how I want to start. I will try to update this once I fix up the end. Please I would love some constructive criticism. Hope you enjoy
